SAS ESP Live Demo with Rockwell PLC with simulated sensors for Real Time Analytics
Thanks to our ecosystems of partners, we were able to get our hands on some real cool gadgets to show how real-time analytics works. It is difficult enough to analyze static data. In the age of Industry 4.0, we must be able to analyze data in real-time or as we say in the Big Data world, data-in-motion or one of the “V” which is Velocity from the 3Vs of Big Data. The Internet-of-Things (IoT) provide a platform for us to interact with the machines that we use in our daily lives. However, without analyzing those valuable data, you will not be able to realize the full benefits of IoT to increase business value. Hence, it is our great pleasure to showcase this real live innovative solutions on how we analyze data-in-motion.
In this live demo during the event @CREST, we demonstrated the power of SAS Event Stream Processing or ESP. Components used in the demo are:
We connected the Rockwell PLC Demo Kit to the Dell IoT Gateway which is connected to a local wifi from Sains@USM. Then, we started cranking the multiple sensor simulators which is connected to SAS ESP (this can be on the edge or at the cloud, depending on how fast you want the data to be analyzed which ESP can adapt in any of these scenario) and VOILA!, the sensor data start to stream in SAS ESP. With our experts simulating a model which create a “Pass/Fail” scenario, the streamed data is analyzed in real-time to predict the potential failure of the machine. You can imagine how this solution can help manufacturers in machine maintenance and reducing downtime. With insights coming from these sensors, you are able to predict and better manage your costs and increase your productivity. This will improve the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of your machines resulting in great business savings and increase in profitability.
